Here at New Works, we really like dance. A lot.
We present dance that is intriguing, unpredictable and captivating. Ballet, hip hop, contemporary, aerial dance, and dance traditions from around the world are just a few examples of shows we offer with our trademark series Dance Allsorts,
All Over the Map, and Pop Up Dances.
We also offer a valuable mentoring program and management services to dancers and dance companies who need help getting started or require support for their current activities.

mandate + mission statement
New Works is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides an innovative platform for developing communities through art engagement.
By presenting diverse dance styles and traditions to the public, and by supporting and mentoring Vancouver-based dance artists, New Works promotes the inclusiveness and diversity of Vancouver itself. By affordable programming, workshops, and educational activities for artists and audiences, New Works provides dynamic performance experiences and accessible programming.

about the Executive Director
Joyce Rosario has been an ‘art geek’ for as long as she can remember, and has
been involved in arts and culture in Vancouver for over ten years. A graduate of the theatre program at UBC, Joyce subsequently worked as an arts administrator in a variety of dance organizations and for the past three years has been the Executive Director of Made in BC - Dance on Tour. As a volunteer, she has served on peer juries, advisory committees and boards, most recently joining the board of directors for CanDance - The Canadian Network of Dance Presenters. She is thrilled to be a part of the New Works team!

the team
Andrea Hébert – Artistic Administrator
Following 12 years of dance training in Ottawa, Andrea (a.k.a. Glossy) completed her Bachelor of Arts at York University in both Cultural Studies and Dance. After working for both the National Art Gallery and Canada’s National Ballet School, Andrea moved to Vancouver to attend Capilano University. In 2008 she was officially welcomed into the New Works family. Whether writing grants or writing cheques, massaging sore feet or massaging egos, Andrea is an artist “lova”. When not at the office, Andrea can be found eating paté and baguettes, taking long walks on the beach and practicing her grand jetés!
Diana Lee – Marketing and Communications
Diana holds both a BFA from Emily Carr University (Printmaking and Print Media) and an affinity for exceptional design. Whether it be in propagandistic material or the structure of an organized marketing plan - Diana loves anything to do with print. For her, it’s all about disseminating information in a tidy, neat little package. It always has her learning, and thus expanding her knowledge and creativity. She also collects words and likes to surround herself with sounds. Diana used to push art in galleries around...and now likes to push live art on unsuspecting audiences.
Sean Devine - Interim Production Coordinator
Sean has been canoeing back and forth between both the administrative and artistic shore of his brain for several years now. Sean also coordinates the Vancouver Celebrates Diwali Festival, fundraises for Co.ERASGA Dance Society, and is a co-artistic director for Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Theatre. Coming up: performing in Death of A Salesman (Playhouse), writing & producing Reunion (Horseshoes & Hand Grenades), and a lead role in the Canada-France film production Territories.
