New Works is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, advancement and management of dance and its related art forms.

New Works is an innovative platform for developing communities through art engagement; by supporting artists and cultivating audiences, and by providing and supporting diverse and inclusive performance experiences.

We present events that are educational and entertaining, appeal to a broad general audience, provide opportunities to experience and participate in unfamiliar forms of artistic expression, and promote cross-cultural understanding. New Works is a leader within the milieu, as one of the few Canadian presenters whose specific mandate is the presentation of culturally diverse work, through performances that are affordable and accessible.

New Works was founded by Barb Clausen and a like-minded group of cultural workers in 1993, as a vehicle for the development, production and presentation of contemporary performance-based work and to provide support and performance opportunities for artists working in the contemporary performing arts. The organization continues to conduct its activities in line with its mandate, producing a variety of affordable events that animate various neighbourhoods in Vancouver such as trademark series Dance Allsorts, Pop Up Dances, All Over the Map, New Works at Night, and Share Dance.

Since 1998 New Works has operated as a vibrant performing arts management organization, providing stable, affordable management services to some of Vancouver’s most innovative artists and companies while also managing special projects. New Works has also played a role in building the next generation of arts administrators by providing on-site management experience, supervision and mentorship.
