Mark your calendars; there is something exciting for everyone coming up this season!
Last year we celebrated these relationships with special 30th anniversary programming. As we enter our fourth decade, the 24-25 season celebrates old friends, like Montreal based Tentacle Tribe and the Cultch – a throwback to our last presentation before the pandemic struck; and it marks the beginning of new associations as we support a world premiere from contemporary Kathak artist Gaurav Bhatti. Plus a host of residencies, studio showings, and other presentations – both familiar and fresh!
Thank you for Applying to New Works' Call for Applications 2024-25!
In January 2024 we opened our call for applications to All Over The Map performance opportunities (8 spots), Studio and Theatre Residencies (2 spots), and our Summer Production Internship (1 spot). Over one month we received 71 applications, double as many as we received last year! Thank you once again to every artist who took the time to apply; we carefully read and considered every application and appreciated the opportunity to get to know you and your work a little bit better.
New Works invites expressions of interest from dance and movement artists to participate in our 2024-25 season of performance, residency, and learning opportunities. Apply to perform at All Over The Map on Granville Island; to be an Artist in Residence in the studio or theatre; or to join the New Works team as the Summer Production Intern. All applications due 31 January 2024.
The New Works Cohort Program is a 5-month long program offering both mentorship and coaching about the business aspect of dance. It aims to provide learning and guided experience towards independent artists' knowledge and stability within the dance art sector.
New Works Cohort Program 2024 applications are now closed. Successful applicants will be notified by Dec 1st.
NW In Practice is a professional development series for dance teacher and leaders to gather and engage in critical conversation around the practice of teaching dance. This season, the series will focus on addressing and supporting needs in community driven spaces through a diversity of topics and angles.
We are excited to share that CanDance members New Works, The Dance Centre and the National Arts Centre, are partnering to facilitate and host a Creative Exchange Project between All Bodies Dance Project and dance artist Adam Warren, both located in Vancouver, and Propeller Dance in Ottawa.
