Training + Workshops
New Works offers training and workshops and hosts peer to peer knowledge sharing throughout the year. This series takes the form of ongoing annual education programs as well as adhoc gatherings hosted in direct response to community and partner need. Workshops may range from the now annual Cohort Program, to a one-off Grassroots Archiving workshop with Dance Collection Danse, to public community dance classes.

Financial Wellness for Dancers: Taxes for Creatives

This workshop will help you clarify your context, identify relevant categories, and provide you with techniques to tackle your taxes with ease. Join the workshop live virtual, on Zoom.
The Dancer Transition Resource Centre (DTRC) is piloting a new cross-sector collaboration. A group of dance service organizations from across Canada are partnering to jointly offer a special Taxes for Creatives workshop presented by DTRC’s financial counsellor Jennifer Long. Thanks to our collaborators on this pilot partnership, even more dancers will benefit from Jen’s expertise in tax preparation.

This three-day workshop intensive offers a rare opportunity for professional and emerging movement-based artists to immerse themselves in innovative dramaturgical practices, with a special focus on land-based methodologies. Led by Mexican-Canadian artist Carlos Rivera, participants will explore how ideas, images, and movement can converge to shape resonant, story-driven performance work.
