Presentation Advisory Committee Opportunity: New Works

New Works is seeking members of the Vancouver Dance Community to participate in our Presentation Advisory Committee. We are looking for three (3) – five (5) Dance Artists who are connected to Vancouver to review applications and make recommendations for New Works 2022-23 Season that align with New Works Vision and Mandate (please see below for more information). 


The Goals of the New Works Presentation Advisory Committee include, but are not limited to: 

  • Formalize community-led decision making processes for New Works presentation opportunities
  • Promote New Works presentation opportunities to equity-seeking artists 
  • Report on the evaluation and selection processes to New Works Presentation Advisory Committee Members

Success of this Trial will be measured by both qualitative and quantitative outcomes. They include but are not limited to:

  • The number of Presentation Advisory Committee Members who participate in this trial. 
  • The number of new artists who submit an application to New Works for 2022-23 Presentation opportunities.
  • The (anonymous) feedback received from the Presentation Advisory Committee at the conclusion of the trial in May 2022. 



New Works Presentation Advisory Committee Members must:

  • Be at least 19 years old 
  • Be connected to the Vancouver Dance Community
  • Attend Meetings held online at mutually convenient times decided on by the Presentation Advisory Committee. Closed captioning will be available for all online meetings. 
  • Have access to a computer with a reliable internet connection

Term: Presentation Advisory Committee Members will participate in a short term trial period starting no earlier than January 3, 2022 and finishing no later than May 31, 2022. This position may be renewed. Committees are put together as a whole to reflect the diversity of our community and its unique creative practices. Representation within the committee of different types of dance, methods of creation, skill sets, and life experiences influence advisory committee selection.

The Presentation Advisory Committee Members will work closely with the Presentations Coordinator, Beverly Walker, the Executive Director, Julie Mamias, Share Dance Coordinator  Frankie McGee and ​​Vidya Kotamraju, New Works Board Director. 


  • A fixed rate honourarium of $375.00 per assessment cycle based on 7.5-10 hours of work. There are two (2) assessment cycles for this trial. 
  • The opportunity to give back to the community and gain excellent arts advisory experience in a friendly and collaborative setting.
