Artist Call for New Works 2022-2023 Season Presentation Opportunities

New Works invites expressions of interest from Performing Artists for our 2022-2023 Season Performance opportunities.

Review past presentations here. Underrepresented dance and music genres are preferred for these presentation opportunities.  

The following opportunities are available for this Season:

  • October 2, 2022: 1 Performance at The Roundhouse Performance Centre
    Range of Fees: $1,250 to $1,700 (ensembles are compensated at a higher rate than solo/duo performances). Please note artist residencies do not include an artist fee, however New Works will cover all hard-costs of the residency.

  • January 14 & 15, 2023: 1 Residency at The Roundhouse Performance Centre
    Fee: Please note artist residencies do not include an artist fee, however New Works will cover all hard-costs of the residency.

  • April 13 & 14, 2023: 1 Performance at The Roundhouse Performance Centre
    Range of Fees: $1,250 to $1,700 (ensembles are compensated at a higher rate than solo/duo performances). Please note artist residencies do not include an artist fee, however New Works will cover all hard-costs of the residency.

  • April 23-26, 2023: 1 Technical Residency & Performance at The Dance Centre – Farris Family Studio (Black Box)
    Range of Fees: $1,250 to $1,700 (ensembles are compensated at a higher rate than solo/duo performances). Please note artist residencies do not include an artist fee, however New Works will cover all hard-costs of the residency.

Underrepresented dance and music genres will be prioritized for these presentation opportunities. This Call is open to Artists outside of the province of British Columbia. New Works intends to prioritize support applications from under represented and equity owed artists who have or are facing systemic barriers that infringe on their artistic career. This may include artists who identify as IBPOC and/or Trans, Non-binary, Queer, Disabled, low-income, and are living in the intersections of these identities. All applications will be reviewed and selected by the New Works Presentation Advisory Committee. Please consider self-identifying and including as much information as you are comfortable sharing in your application to help the New Works Presentation Advisory Committee make informed decisions. If a written application is not feasible for you, please note we will accept applications in the form of a video or voice recording. The video or audio recording should be no longer than 10 minutes, should have clear and recognizable audio, and should include your answers to all of the applicable questions on the form below. Your video can preferably be a Youtube, Vimeo, or Gmail link and you can submit this link to presentations@newworks.ca before the deadline April 30, 2022.

Notification:

Presentation decisions will be announced by May 18th, 2022. Please note if invited to participate, complete technical information (i.e. tech rider) and marketing materials must be provided to the New Works team as part of your presentation confirmation.
