Sunday, May 31, 2026 | 11am-1pm
Q7 Studios (77 East 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC)

About the Session:
Charcha, meaning both discussion and practice in Sanskrit, is a gathering for South Asian dance and music artists to come together, share experiences, and explore collective approaches to the needs and possibilities within our community.
Through facilitated small-group discussions, we will share experiences, reflect on the needs emerging within our community, and begin identifying the kinds of support and connection that may help us move forward together.
This event builds on New Works’ Leadership In-Practice Symposium in March 2026, which included a one-day gathering followed by two peer-to-peer learning sessions for dance artists, educators, and community leaders. Together, these spaces opened meaningful conversations about leadership practices that are sustainable, inclusive, and responsive to the dance world we are shaping together.
Charcha carries this energy forward in an intimate, collaborative setting, offering space to share experiences, strengthen relationships, and explore collective approaches to the evolving needs of the South Asian arts community.
We welcome artists, educators, students, organizers, and supporters connected to South Asian dance and music. Whether you are leading, learning, supporting, or seeking deeper connection, you are invited to bring your experiences, curiosities, and ideas as we reflect together on how to build caring and lasting relationships within the community.
