Choreographed by Little Room’s Co-Director Isak Enquist, Fall(se) Cirque(us) is a multidisciplinary performance grounded in the spirit of rebellion against the complacency of the everyday. Alternating between moments of “work” and “rest,” dancers embody a cyclical movement that blurs the line between labour and renewal, ultimately inviting moments of joyful assembly as a method of conscious resistance to the demands of the daily grind.
Fall(se) Cirque(us): A Joyful Rebellion
How do we begin a practice of revolution? Gentle, joyful—falling towards emancipation.
Seven dancers perform highly physical, unison movements that challenge the boundaries between physical labor and virtuosic performance. Alternating between "Work" and "Rest", this cyclical structure embodies the rhythm of labor, highlighting the tension between effort and exhaustion.
"Not-yet-conscious" is a concept articulated by German philosopher Ernst Bloch—referring to a state of human awareness that is not fully realized or developed. Bloch suggests that human consciousness contains possibilities and potentials that have not yet been actualized. The "not-yet-conscious" signifies hope and the anticipation of a better future.
“Fall(se) Cirque(us)” creates a performance space to engage with the “not-yet-conscious”, becoming aware of one's ability to activate their participation—creating space for the unexpected.
