Óró

by Compagnie KHOR / Khoudia Touré

March 11 & 12 , 2026 | 6pm

Roundhouse Exhibition Hall (181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver, BC)

About Óró

Following human journeys and the places they cross, Óró features street dancers from Dakar, Paris and Vancouver. They explore notions of shadow, identity and hope, telling a story beyond words.

How can dance be a place of symbols and ideas, a trajectory from the individual to the collective?

Khoudia's discovery of Hip Hop goes back to her childhood, a time when it became a political and cultural force for Senegalese youth. She created Compagnie KHOR to connect the show on stage with actions anchored in real life and community.

About the Artist

Khoudia Touré

Senegal, France

Born into a mixed-race family of Senegalese and French descent, Khoudia Touré built her artistic career within the Hip Hop scene of both countries. Immersed in the energy of Senegalese Hip Hop since her adolescence, she is a self-taught dancer, having studied in Paris and then New York. Between 2014 and 2016, she co-directed the "Sunu Street" ("Our Street") project, a cultural transmission initiative that marked the emergence of a talented new generation of Hip Hop dancers in Senegal. This project introduced her to the concept of social art, serving a community.

""Placing humanity at the heart of my creations, combining spectacle with actions, encounters and projects engaged in real life.""

March 7, 2026 | 4:30 - 5:30pm
Alliance Française Vancouver - 6161 Cambie, Théâtre

Join us for an intergenerational dance workshop and immerse yourself in the artistic world of the KHOR company.

Open to all, this workshop includes an introduction to the HipHop dance techniques used within the company. In a gentle and progressive way, you will discover together the “steps,” techniques, and grooves inspired by hip-hop, krump, and house dance, as well as the meanings behind these movements, inspired by the daily lives of the company's dancers in Senegal.

We invite you to come in pairs (parents and children) to discover, with the company's dancers, the values of connection and cohesion in hip-hop culture, different ways to move and nurture your creativity, and to awaken your senses to urban rhythms and sounds. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Please RSVP 1 ticket per person.

Presented by Alliance Française Vancouver, in partnership with VIDF and New Works.

The Xchange - Community Exhibition Battle - presented by VIDF

With COMPAGNIE KHOR

March 8, 2026 | 2:00 - 5:00pm
312 Main Street, Vancouver BC

Join us for an open-styles exhibition battle with invited crews, where everyone is welcome to experience a dynamic showcase of various street dance forms and live movement dialogue between dancers/crews.

Many of the street and social/club dance styles that you'll see at The Xchange battle are rooted in predominantly African-American cultural and lived experiences. We aim to honour these origins through this event.

Produced by Kristen ‘KatchFlow', at the heart of The Xchange is the commitment to fostering genuine cultural exchange—connecting communities across regions, backgrounds and experiences through music and dance.
